Daabon’s 2020 year-round sustainable palm oil efforts
Regardless of where you live or what you do for an occupation, 2020 was a challenging year. Caring for our people and our planet has always been central to Daabon’s vision and mission. This is why for 2020, Daabon increased its sustainable palm oil efforts to lessen the impact on our people and our environment.
People across the world worried about their loved ones’ health, and dealt with financial stressors, elections, and climate change. According to a 2020 poll by the American Psychological Association, more than 78% of Americans say the coronavirus was a significant source of stress for them, and one-in-four adults had trouble paying their bills, says Pew. Colombia, a country with already limited essential resources, was deeply affected by the pandemic as well, which is why Daabon felt compelled to offer much needed support.
Daabon donated over 350,000 sustainable palm oil-based soap bars during the quarantine to local communities to help stem the spread of the coronavirus.
Year-round support
The most impactful giving isn’t relegated to just one month per year. Rather, the best way to propel missions forward is to fund causes we believe in throughout the year for deeper cultural, economic, and environmental improvements.
The organizations we consistently support aim to improve the lives of our people and our planet. For example, one nonprofit close to our hearts is called Fundown, which promotes the inclusion of people with cognitive disabilities. Another organization we give to is called Flotraban, a targeted charity designed to improve the lives of banana farmers in Northern Colombia. Additionally, Daabon has supported natural disaster relief in affected communities on the northern Colombian coast after Hurricane Iota struck in November 2020, by donating thousands of our palm oil-based soap bars. Daabon also coordinated donation drive for employees who lost their homes during the storm.
Holiday cheer
Our employees are the lifeblood of our company, and we strive to make them and their families feel as valued as possible. Every year during the holidays, we provide gift baskets to our workers and their families, and we give gift toys and collected donations to local children in need.
These are among the many ways we strive to show respect and appreciation toward our employees and our local community. And with hope that 2021 will be an easier year, Daabon will continue to support local communities to help overcome 2020’s challenges.
